Collagen and Gelatin

Open up a beauty magazine or do a google search on gelatin or collagen and you’ll find that it’s good for your skin, hair and nails.

What may not make the headlines is that it is good for your gut! The protein in collagen and gelatin can heal your gut (or intestinal lining) if it’s damaged and it can maintain and strengthen a gut that is already pretty healthy.

The gut is the one of the most important parts of your body because all of your body systems rely on a healthy gut. If you have skin sensitivities they probably stem for your gut. If you have headaches they probably have something to do with gut health. If you have out of control cravings, your gut probably has some issues. There are many issues with the gut that don’t present themselves as “gut” (or stomach) pain.

Here is an easy and delicious recipe that you can make to support your gut health today!

(YES! Collagen and gelatin can also support thicker, fuller, stronger, hair and nails and beautiful skin.)

Finger Gelatin

Ingredients:

1 Cup boiling water

1 Cup pomegranate juice (or other juice of your choice)

1-3 Tablespoons raw, local honey (optional)

¼ Cup gelatin powder

½ Cup collagen

  1. Pour boiling water into a medium or bowl.
  2. Sprinkle gelatin on top of water.
  3. Stir the gelatin until dissolved. Don’t worry if a small amount of gelatin doesn’t dissolve, just remove that piece.
  4. Add juice and collagen and stir to dissolve. The collagen will dissolve much easier than the gelatin.
  5. Add honey (to your taste) and dissolve.
  6. Pour mixture into a small container, about 5×5 inches for cubes, use a larger container (thus creating a thinner gelatin) if you want to cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Let it set in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. It may set sooner, if you can’t wait, check it!
  8. The gelatin will be very stiff when ready, thus, you can pick it up with your fingers!
  9. Cut into cubes or use cookie cutters.
